Welcome to hugo-zones!
Hugo-Zones is a simple Hugo theme for creating Zonelets-style blogs.
Why hugo-zones?
I like the design of Zoner / Zonelets sites, but wanted something a little more flexible. Hugo looked like a great option - relatively simple, but lots of features available if needed. It also uses markdown for posts, just like Zoner! When I started exploring Hugo, however, I found most of the themes are extremely heavy. They often load external libraries and rely on complicated scripts and configuration files - the result is a site building experience that feels just as abstract as with Wordpress. I didn’t want all that!
I created hugo-zones as a simple Hugo theme that can be built on top of - rather than pared down - to achieve the site you want.
Features:
- Simple theme that is easy to learn and build on
- Keeps files human-readable and easy to tinker with
- css-compatible with Zonelets
- No external libraries (ex. Bootstrap css)
- No Javascript, and minimal Hugo Go scripting
Doesn’t using Hugo defeat the purpose of Zonelets?
Maybe! I made this theme because I liked Zoner, but wanted a bit more flexibility. There weren’t a lot of good starter themes for Hugo, so I decided to port Zonelets.
